Alaska Agricultural College and School of Mines

The UAF institution began in 1917 as the Alaska Agricultural College and School of Mines, focusing on research and teaching in support of agriculture and mining. By 1935, the college had grown both in faculty and educational scope, and the name was changed to University of Alaska.
