Since I plan to continue promoting the blog as a place for information about how the Library fits as a resource in the academic process, I’d like to continue adding training material to the blog and plan to investigate the use of web-based interactive tutorials.
Email messages announcing the creation of the blog have been the only form of department-wide communication. The blog was advertised on the Library’s main web page for a few weeks as a source for starting the research process. The intent is to continue sending an email message at the start of each semester, and possibly do a presentation in the fall semester during teaching assistant orientation since the blog was created to be used as part of the bibliographic instruction process.
Future categories may include a creative writing section for students to post writing samples. I’m curious if this will attract users to the blog since the creative writing program offers workshop classes. Will students be willing to share their creative efforts with the blog community? While creative writing students must gain exposure through publication, will they see the blog as an acceptable place to post? Or, will they save their efforts for the publishing world? Will the blog become a tool of the writing community?
